Compare and contrast Reagan’s first inaugural with Franklin D. Roosevelt’s first inaugural. What similarities do you see? What differences are there?

According to Roosevelt’s inaugural speech, the government of the USA had the economic capacity to change the lives of the American people while on the other hand Reagan considered the government to be the cause of the American problems. According to Reagan, the power existed in the constitution that has already established the rights of the American nation while according to Roosevelt, the power was with the government and the civil liberties could be revisited with the changing circumstances. Reagan was in favor of individual freedom while Roosevelt was of the view of public welfare that could mean the surrender of some of the individual rights.

Both of the presidents were of the view that fundamental changes were needed to serve the American people but the way they approached the solution was different.
