GlaxoSmithKline and Canadian Drugs Ethical Issues

GlaxoSmithKline is a medication distributing company that has the important obligation to assure the safety of the general population considering the fact that the company has the upper hand out of all the parties involved. GlaxoSmithKline’s employees are well aware of the effects that people can suffer from using the company’s medications that GlaxoSmithKline continues to sell in spite of the approvals that such medication has failed to receive from the appropriate accredited associations.

Though the average person is unaware of the dangers that may result from them using the prescriptions that are sold and distributed from GlaxoSmithKline representatives, the company does nothing to protect those who purchase them. Instead, the GlaxoSmithKline company has exhibited the complete opposite behavior and thus, exploited those in need of such medications. In the video, “GlaxoSmithKline Whistleblower Speaks Out About Bribery of Doctors, Off-the-Label Marketing of Drugs,” researchers report that GlaxoSmithKline company representatives use many tactics to bribe constituents to getting the company’s products sold. One of the techniques that the GlaxoSmithKline representatives have used includes the method of bribery. For instance, GlaxoSmithKline has been known to entice local doctors with luxurious gifts and offers in exchange for prescribing various GlaxoSmithKline medications to the patients that the doctors see on a regular basis, even if these patients are not particularly ill. “GlaxoSmithKline gave incredible perks to the physicians in order to prescribe some of their drugs and also for off label uses that were not approved,” one reporter mentions in the video (TheHealthRanger, 2012).
