Why do artists make drawings?

When I was a child, I used to draw on walls and on the ground with a pen or pencil that I would find somewhere at my home. These drawings were note perfect but they did make a sense to me. I think that drawing is among some of the human instincts. Artist grow up making drawings and after they have perfected that art, they manage to portray the reflection of their inner feelings in their drawings. According to Frank (2013, p.101) artists may use drawing to serve three purposes. The first is they see or imagine something and put it on a media in the form of a painting. Second is drawing can be used as a practice before a more complex art work. Third is, artist may draw a complete drawing that represents a complete art work. Drawings can be simple or complex, depending on the ideas an artist represent with them and the artistic nature of the artist.
