Discovery Civics Journal Entry 1 – Habitat for Humanity of Washington, D.C

I would like to conduct the activities for Habitat for Humanity of Washington, D.C because they are doing a unique activity. Their chosen activity is exceptionally good. I like the idea very much. Mainly, all the organizations doing charity mainly help the people with some sort of disease as well as families with no income. The low-income families are often get ignored but they somewhat feel the same difficulties (Habitat for Humanity of Washington, D.C., 2017). Moreover, the homelessness is one of the biggest issues of the world and mainly in America. There is focus on this but it mainly focused on families with no income or refugees or disaster effective. The most influencing factor of Habitat for Humanity of Washington is that they have also focused on families with low incomes as well.

The information which I have gathered is from some of my friends who are also working with HFH. Moreover, I have also read about them over the internet at their official website. Mainly, they focus to on building safe habitat for the homeless or the low-income families who cannot afford a home for them. They have internationally listed Charity organization with various projects already completed as evidence to their success benchmark as well as better working structure  (Habitat for Humanity of Washington, D.C., 2017). It would be great exposure working with them.

I have gathered information from my friends who are already working with them. I have also attended some of the inaugurals conducted by them. I have visited their office and see their working. Their financial reports are available as well  (Habitat for Humanity of Washington, D.C., 2017). I have visited their site. In short, I have tried to get information related to them from any source I can get.

One of the benefits is that I would get an exposure to do volunteer work. The other benefit is that I will get the knowledge of how the work of charity can be done. I also know some of the families who cannot afford a home so I would be able to refer them as well.
