Standards and Naming conventions for managing files

  • Take a position on whether or not standardization and naming conventions are critical for properly managing files and folders in a Windows environment. Include at least one (1) example or scenario to support your response.

I think that standardizing and name conventions are really necessary as this is how we can differentiate different file types. For example if we look into the music niche, there are many formats of audio and video files in music. Without standardizing, we might not be able to properly identify what type of music file we want with what quality and how much disk space.

For me, I keep all my files in separate folders. What file conventions help me with is it provides me with an opportunity to keep the same format files in the same folder. It makes the file management and identification really easy for me.
