Social Media is a technology that has allowed people from all over the world to connect with one another. Moreover, these body image trends not only vary in sizes but also vary in cultural societies. Not only do such body image trends pass out on such social media as mere images but they are more of a guide for other people to follow, who enter into emotional distress when they can’t rally up their work ethic or effort in comparison to the body image trends that are active at the particular time period. Furthermore, it is also certain that social media is the most common place to interact with celebrities or at least have a glimpse upon the lifestyle that celebrities follow. Particularly, these celebrities can be held responsible for initiating more than 75% of the body image trends within the world on social media. Looking at how the celebrities post new body image trends is one way people identify themselves to relate with their favourite celebrity. In doing so, people are affected by different emotional problems, which lead to diseases such as bulimia or anorexia. Moreover, the US statistics show that there has been an increasing rate of anorexia and bulimia in people due to the fact that they are obsessed with following body image trends and are willing to do anything in order to get their way with such issues.

The reasons mentioned above are more than enough to propel people into different kinds of diseases and emotional distress disorders. These diseases and distress disorders vary in consequences and effects upon the human beings but most of them have the same result upon the people that such diseases affect, which is the potential of the particular people becoming suicidal in the long-term analysis. This is mostly because people do not comprehend the fact that they cannot follow some specific body image trend unless their body was able to adapt to it. In such situations, people should usually stop trying to follow a particular body image trend and, as a precaution, choose another body image trend of they are habitual of such scenarios. However, most people get the disease of bulimia, where they vomit purposefully so as to lose fat and look thin, and anorexia, where people try to eat as little as possible in as many days as possible. Both these diseases make a person extremely weak. While people may achieve temporary body image trends through such diseases, most of them can’t cure themselves off such diseases, leading to suicide or extreme weakness. As for the people who fail to gain any body image trends in their favour after they have been sick with anorexia or bulimia, such people become suicidal.

Therefore, it is discussed as to what reasons may bring up Bulimia or Anorexia in people through social media and how such diseases are influenced by body image trends on the social media. However, it is also discussed as to how such distress disorders and diseases can cause a person to become extremely weak or suicidal. Hence, in conclusion, it can be said that Social media, such as Facebook and Instagram, are indeed responsible for a large increase in anorexia and bulimia among people.
