Privacy is a hot-button topic for most people. Discuss how the definition of privacy that is commonly used (freedom from observation) may differ from the definition of privacy from the information security perspective (freedom from unsanctioned intrusion).
Privacy as used commonly is a broader topic that allows a person to limit others from intrusion to his/her internal affairs. It could be the choices that we make in our life of simply the things that go on at one’s personal house or life. This is mostly related to the control over ones actions and the extent to which others can intrude.
Privacy of information security on the other hand refers to the security and privacy of the personal information i.e. names, emails, date of birth, addresses etc. We all provide our personal information to different sources like websites, surveys, hospitals and other institutions. Therefore we reserve the right to limit them to share this information with other organizations and individual for what so ever reason.
