Not an easy chore to just pick one artist. James Weldon Johnson was so educated and participated in so many influential positions that an African-American typically would not hold that type of job. Then you have Langston Hughes that was inspired by Jazz music and ran off to Paris to feel the freedom like they did abroad. Also during this era there were so many women entering and excelling right beside the men. Then we had several women coming about during this time and had their works published. What a huge accomplishment in that time when women were basically not highly respected as business people or playing a huge part of society.

If I had to pick it would have to be Langston Hughes. He seems to be the risk taker and wanted to enjoy life and his poems showed that. The “Jazz Band in a Parisian Cabaret” that he wrote made you want to be in Paris and listen to the music and dance in the streets.
