Group specific 3 commercials

Chapter 8 discusses the influence groups have on its members including opinions, attitudes, and behaviors. For this assignment you will provide three web/television commercial links that appeal to a specific group. In a word document, provide the links to and describe the commercials and briefly answer the following questions about each commercial:

Commercial 1: 

This seems to be a highly exaggerated Coca Cola advertisement for the elderly where an elderly person becomes energetic after drinking a coke.

  1. What specific group does this commercial target?

This advertisement is targeting the senior citizens.

  1. Do you identify with this group?

I do not think that I am that elderly yet.

  1. Is the product/service in the commercial a necessity or a luxury?

Well it is a very tricky question to ask if a Coke is a necessity or a luxury. Some years ago it was definitely a luxury but I guess it has become a necessity now.

  1. Is the product/service in the commercial subject to strong or weak group influence?

The way an elderly person has been portrayed in the commercial who can do a lot more with his life after a coke, I would say it does have a strong group influence on the elderly.

  1. Does the commercial attempt to change attitudes or behavior?

I think that this commercial want to change the attitude of the elderly by convincing them that they need to get up of their bed and try and do what they missed in their life.

Commercial 2: 

 

The commercial is by Colgate toothpaste in which three kids are shown singing with their tooth brushes and a huge Colgate.

This commercial is targeting Kids.

  1. Do you identify with this group?

No, I am long grown up.

  1. Is the product/service in the commercial a necessity or a luxury?

Tooth paste is a necessity to stay healthy.

  1. Is the product/service in the commercial subject to strong or weak group influence?

Yes it is subject to strong group influence as the kids in the advertisement is focusing on kids from a certain age.

  1. Does the commercial attempt to change attitudes or behavior?

The commercial is aimed at changing the attitude of children to start brushing their teeth three times a day.

Commercial 3: 

 

It’s a funny commercial in which a women is chased by men due to her wearing the AXE body spray.

  1. What specific group does this commercial target?

This commercial is targeting women.

  1. Do you identify with this group?

No I do not identify with this group.

  1. Is the product/service in the commercial a necessity or a luxury?

I don’t think so that a body spray can be categorized as a necessity.

  1. Is the product/service in the commercial subject to strong or weak group influence?

I do not think so that the product is subject to strong group influence.

  1. Does the commercial attempt to change attitudes or behavior?

I think that it is trying to change the attitude of women to start using a body spray that would attract men.
